About Nilakshee
I am a dedicated child development specialist and SEN teaching assistant with over 15 years of experience supporting children and young people in nursery, primary, and specialist SEN settings. Helping children learn, grow, and reach their potential is both my profession and my passion.
My qualifications:
* MA in Applied Psychology — Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
* Postgraduate study in Children's Development and Learning — Open University
* Undergraduate study in Child Development (Psychology) — Open University
* CACHE Level 3 Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce
My experience:
* Over five years as a specialist SEN teaching assistant at a Sutton primary school, delivering one-to-one support for children with complex needs
* Nine years as a qualified nursery practitioner, supporting children from birth through the early years
* Volunteer experience supporting adults facing mental health challenges at Mind Croydon
My approach:

I am a specialist SEN teaching assistant with over five years of experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments in primary schools in Sutton. I hold an MA in Applied Psychology and postgraduate qualifications in Child Development from the Open University.
Who I work with:
* Children from early years through to primary age
* Children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory or physical needs
* Children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
* Families needing guidance in navigating the SEN system
My approach:
* My approach is child-centred and highly personalised. Every session is tailored to your child’s needs.
* I begin by identifying each child’s strengths, challenges, and motivators.
* I use evidence-based strategies, including structured literacy, numeracy, phonics, and visual supports.
* These techniques are applied daily in collaboration with SENCOs, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
Lessons:
* 60 minutes per session
* Available online or in person in Sutton and South London

Safeguarding:
* I hold an enhanced DBS check and am registered with the DBS Update Service, which is instantly verifiable.
