About Jocelyn
I'm a friendly, patient tutor that loves helping children grow in confidence meet their full potential. I have 3 years' experience working across KS1 and KS2 in a few primary school settings.
I know we all have different ways we like to learn so I'll make sure to adapt to meet you where you are, taking into account your learning pace, interests and personality. My goal is to break down things that might be tricky or frustrating into smaller, manageable steps to support you in achieving those 'lightbulb' moments.

I'm a friendly, patient tutor that loves helping children grow in confidence meet their full potential.
Our lessons will typically be 1 hour long and will be perfect for anyone looking to build confidence and ability in their reading and writing.
Our session might look a little bit like this:
Warm-Up (5 mins):
We might play a quick phonics flashcard game and activate prior knowledge and help the child transition into a learning mindset.
Review & Drill (10 mins):
We will then revisit sounds and tricky words from the previous session. If in person, we might use physical tools like whiteboards, letter tiles, or counters to keep it tactile.
New Concept / Core Teaching (15 mins):
I'll introduce one new objective (e.g. using conjunctions to extend a sentence). I'll model the skill explicitly ("I do, we do") using visual aids and simple language.
Guided & Independent Practice (15 mins):
We'll then work through a task together. I'll step back and let the child try independently, while offering gentle prompts.
Wrap-Up & Reward (5–10 mins):
We'll review what was learned and celebrate a success. Finish with a quick, fun game and set a tiny, stress-free practice task.
