About Mihoko
こんにちは！I am a qualified Japanese teacher with Master's degree in Applied Japanese Linguistics in which I learnt all aspects of Japanese including grammatical structures, pronunciation, history as well as how to teach Japanese. I have lived in UK for more than 20 years and have taught privately to multiple students with different levels. One of my first students now lives and works in Japan. I also specialise in Phonology which is the study of sounds of language. I can provide lessons focusing on accents and pronunciation, detailing how to pronounce Japanese more like a native speaker.

If you are a beginner and are willing to learn reading/writing as well as speaking Japanese, I will base my lessons on the textbook "Minna no Nihongo" 「みんなの日本語」. You will learn all aspects of Japanese from the basic grammar and pronunciation to conversational skills. I will also make use of real life materials such as magazines, newspapers and whatever may interest each individual student. I will use both English and Japanese to teach and explain. If you are a more advanced learner and would like to develop your conversational skills, or aim for JLPT, we can discuss your needs and build your lessons together. Lessons can be taught only in Japanese if so wished.

Perfect! Just finished my first lesson with Mihoko and it was a really positive start. She gave a great introduction to Japanese and gave very good guidance on how the process will be to improve. The work environment is lovely and Mihoko was very encouraging. I will be continuing lessons with her.

I began lessons with Mihoko-san when I was just starting out with Japanese. Learning with Mihoko-san gave me both the knowledge and confidence that eventually led to me realising my dream of living and working in Japan.
While Mihoko-san is extremely friendly and patient, her lessons are also effective and result driven. If you are motivated to learn, I can't imagine a better tutor.
