Subject: English language
Title: Subject-Verb Agreement (Concord)
Concord simply means the agreement of the subject with its verb and predicate.
In English, before a sentence can be accepted to be correct, there must be an agreement between the subject(action performer) and the predicate (the action) that make up the sentence.
Therefore, when constructing a sentence,be very careful of the way you use your verbs with the appropriate subjects.
For instance:
(1) My sisters is going home(Incorrect)
Rather:My sisters are going home(correct)
(2) My daddy go to work everyday(Incorrect)
Rather: My daddy goes to work everyday(correct).
(3) She don't like to eat Sharwama(Incorrect)
Rather: She doesn't like to eat Sharwama(correct),etc.
Now,If you check the first sentence, the subject "My sister's" and the predicate"is" are not in agreement with each other, because subject "My sisters" is a plural noun, while the verb or predicate "is" is a singular verb. So, there's no agreement between them, hence for the correct construction under it.
In conclusion, for you to know how to construct correct sentence and correct connection of the subject and verb, you must know how to identify singular verbs and plural verbs and so on.
