About Ella
Hello! I am a bilingual Korean-English tutor who has studied in the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum since Grade 1. I am currently an IB Grade 12 student, and having attended international schools overseas from a young age, I speak both Korean and English naturally and fluently.
I tutor English and Mathematics, with a particular focus on helping Korean students confidently learn academic subjects entirely in English while fully understanding the material.
My lessons are conducted 100% in English to create an immersive learning environment. However, when students encounter difficult concepts or confusing points, I briefly explain them in Korean to ensure complete understanding before continuing in English.
Before we begin, I take the time to understand each student's current level and goals—whether they need support with schoolwork, want to improve their English proficiency, or are preparing for the IB. I then tailor each lesson's pace, difficulty, and teaching approach to fit their individual needs.
Having studied alongside classmates from many different countries throughout my education, I understand the challenges students face when learning in English for the first time. I am patient, approachable, and experienced in explaining concepts clearly to students who are still becoming comfortable with English instruction.
Because I am fluent in both Korean and English, I understand the pressure and uncertainty many Korean students feel when taking lessons in English. My goal is not only to help students understand the content but also to gradually build their confidence so they can begin thinking, learning, and communicating naturally in English.
Even if you have little or no experience taking classes in English, that's completely okay. After just a few lessons, you'll find it increasingly natural to listen to explanations, understand concepts, and solve problems in English.

I guide students not only to learn English, but also to develop an English way of thinking (Thinking in English). My lessons are primarily conducted in English to help students naturally build the habit of listening, understanding, and thinking in English.
For challenging concepts, I provide additional explanations in Korean when needed to ensure complete understanding. However, I gradually guide students toward being able to learn and process information independently in English, adapting my approach to each student's level.
Rather than simply memorizing answers, I focus on helping students develop a strong understanding of concepts and the ability to solve problems independently. I create a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions freely, adjust my explanations based on each student's level of understanding, and provide consistent feedback so that students can build confidence and continue improving.
This approach reflects my teaching method: helping students become not only better at English, but also more confident and independent learners.
