About Makeda
Makeda Sandford is a photographer and creative director based in Brooklyn, NY. She is self-taught in the photographic arts and completed studies in journalism and Africana studies. Her work reflects her exploration of concepts like multifaceted identity, femininity, fashion, beauty, youth and the Black diasporic experience. She has also lensed the unit set stills for four feature films on Hulu and Amazon.
Clients include New York Times, Glamour Magazine, Converse, The FADER, Instagram, Billboard, New Yorker, Teen Vogue, Essence and more. She has been featured in two group shows, The Future is (Black) Femme (2017), and The New Black Vanguard (2019).
