About Evan

I am a dedicated and high-achieving Biomedical Science Master’s student with a strong academic record and a clear passion for teaching. I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Science with Distinction (GPA 7.375) and previously graduated with a conjoint degree in Pharmacology and Marketing. My academic performance includes consistent high grades across biology, chemistry, and analytical subjects, reflecting both strong understanding and effective study strategies.

Beyond academics, I have gained valuable real-world experience through my internship at WuXi Biologics, where I worked in quality assurance and laboratory systems within a professional biomedical environment. I was recognized as Employee of the Month in a large organization, demonstrating my work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure.

I understand the challenges that university students face, particularly in demanding fields such as biomedical science. Having navigated this path myself, I teach with empathy, patience, and a strong focus on building confidence. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel more in control of their learning and more confident in their abilities.

My tutoring is designed specifically for undergraduate students studying biomedical science, biology, or healthcare-related programs, as well as those taking marketing alongside science degrees. As a current Master’s student at the University of Auckland specializing in molecular medicine and pathology, I bring both advanced subject knowledge and practical research insight into every session.

My teaching methodology focuses on clarity, structure, and efficiency. Many students struggle not because the content is too difficult, but because it is presented without a clear framework. I help students break down complex biological systems—such as molecular pathways, physiology, and disease mechanisms—into understandable, connected concepts. I emphasize identifying key points, building logical connections, and applying knowledge to exam-style questions. This approach not only improves grades but also builds long-term understanding.

I integrate active recall, concept mapping, and targeted problem-solving into each lesson. Students are guided to think critically rather than passively receive information, which significantly enhances retention and confidence. I also support students with study planning, exam strategies, and refining their approach to learning—skills that are often overlooked but essential for success at university level.

Each session typically runs between 1 to 2 hours, allowing enough time for in-depth explanation, practice, and consolidation. Lessons are interactive, flexible, and tailored to the student’s current level and goals.

I have formal teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant in medical courses, where I led group sessions and organized structured learning activities. Additionally, I have experience tutoring and mentoring students in both academic and volunteer settings, including leading a group of over 30 students. These roles have strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles.
