About Marjan
Hi! I'm Marjan, a Psychology graduate from the University at Buffalo, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Dean's List distinction. I have over a year of teaching experience working with preschool and primary school students, and I genuinely enjoy helping children grow into confident, independent learners.
As a teacher, I believe every child learns differently. That's why I tailor each lesson to suit the student's pace, strengths, and learning style. My lessons are engaging and encouraging, creating a safe environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes.
I have experience teaching children from early years through primary school, particularly in English, phonics, reading, comprehension, and writing. My background in psychology has also given me a deeper understanding of child development, motivation, and effective learning strategies, allowing me to better support each student's academic and personal growth.

My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. For younger learners, I use interactive activities, visual aids, games, and hands-on exercises to keep lessons enjoyable while reinforcing key concepts. For primary school students, I break down complex topics into manageable steps, provide guided practice, and gradually build independence and confidence. I also regularly assess students' understanding and adjust my teaching strategies to ensure steady progress.
A typical lesson lasts between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student's age, attention span, and learning needs. Lessons usually include a review of previous concepts, introduction of new material, guided practice, independent work, and feedback. Phonics would be 1h ($25/h) while Primary English would be 1.5-2h ($35/h).
