About Troy
My journey into programming began with curiosity about building meaningful solutions using logic and technology. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Software Engineering followed by an M.Sc in Artificial Intelligence, providing strong theoretical and practical foundations. Over the past 8 years, I have helped learners develop comprehensive programming skills using patient, structured, and concept-driven teaching methods.
I emphasise clarity, stepwise explanations, and real-world examples. I encourage learners to experiment, ask questions, and think independently, building both competence and confidence. Lessons focus on understanding principles rather than memorising code, empowering students to tackle challenges creatively and effectively.
Outside teaching, I engage in programming projects, explore emerging technologies, and participate in AI research, which enriches my lessons with current, practical insight. Teaching programming is deeply rewarding because I witness learners evolve from hesitation to confidence, mastering skills that serve them academically, professionally, and personally. My goal is to cultivate independent, capable, and innovative programmers ready to thrive in any coding challenge.

Programming becomes engaging when students grasp the logic and reasoning behind each line of code, algorithm, and data structure. In my lessons, I guide learners through Python, C++, algorithms, object-oriented design, problem-solving techniques, and project-based applications. I focus on conceptual understanding, helping learners see connections between abstract ideas and practical outcomes. Each session integrates coding exercises, debugging practice, and guided projects to strengthen skill, confidence, and independent thinking. My aim is to make programming accessible, practical, and intellectually rewarding for learners at all levels.
Lessons are tailored to learner experience. Beginners start with fundamental programming logic, loops, conditional statements, and small projects to develop confidence. Intermediate learners strengthen modular programming, recursion, algorithmic efficiency, and debugging strategies. Advanced learners explore optimisation, APIs, real-world project integration, and preparation for competitive programming or professional applications. Every lesson includes hands-on practice, clear feedback, and reinforcement to ensure mastery.
Programming lessons also develop analytical reasoning, logical thinking, and resilience in problem-solving. Students gain confidence in tackling challenges creatively and independently. Many experience excitement as abstract concepts evolve into working software solutions. My mission is to empower learners with coding skills, conceptual understanding, and confidence to excel academically, professionally, and personally.
