About Blake
My passion for programming began when I realised the transformative power of logic applied to real-world solutions. I earned a B.Sc in Computer Science followed by an M.Sc in Software Engineering, where I developed expertise in software design, algorithms, and applied computing principles. Over the past 9 years, I have guided students of all levels, helping them gain clarity, independence, and confidence in programming. I teach with empathy, patience, and clarity, always tailoring explanations to match each learner’s pace and style. I focus on step-by-step reasoning, practical examples, and hands-on exercises to ensure learners understand core concepts deeply. Many students who initially feel intimidated gradually develop independence and the confidence to tackle challenging projects. Outside teaching, I continue refining my programming skills through personal projects, emerging technologies, and continuous study of best practices. Teaching programming is deeply rewarding because it equips students with creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills that empower them in both academic and professional contexts.

Computer programming becomes much more approachable when students understand how logical steps translate into functioning code. In my lessons, I guide learners through variables, loops, conditionals, functions, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming using structured, step-by-step explanations. I focus on helping students understand why code behaves as it does rather than just memorising syntax, fostering critical thinking alongside technical skills. Lessons are adapted to each learner’s experience level. Beginners explore basic syntax, logical flow, simple programmes, and problem decomposition. Intermediate learners develop debugging skills, modular programme design, and algorithmic thinking. Advanced learners focus on optimisation, software architecture, project planning, and interview-style problem-solving. Every session includes hands-on coding exercises, guided discussion, and constructive feedback. Programming lessons also nurture persistence, creativity, and analytical reasoning. As learners gain confidence, they become comfortable experimenting, troubleshooting, and refining solutions independently. My goal is to empower students to approach programming with curiosity, discipline, and confidence, equipping them for academic and professional challenges alike.
