About Nicholas
My background is in student affairs and higher education administration. Prior to my role as a faculty member, I worked as a college administrator focused on student success. Now, I serve as a full-time faculty member who studies and teaches educational leadership, research, and policy. I support Master's and Ph.D. students every day, and it is without a doubt my favorite part of the job.
Primarily, I specialize in supporting students who are conducting qualitative research projects that leverage various modes of qualitative data collection including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. I also have supported students in completing other types of qualitative projects that rely on existing data in the public domain, including policy analysis and content analysis.
Although my background is in postsecondary education, I currently support students who are engaging in research across the P-20 educational spectrum. I also am open to providing support to students outside of their thesis and dissertation work (e.g., completing papers for academic courses).

I have years of experience supporting graduate level students in their goals of completing a thesis or dissertation. I work to provide meaningful, positive, and structural support to students at all levels of the thesis or dissertation process. I work to meet students where they are.
Some students need to first start by mapping out a timeline and making a game plan to achieve their goals - I'm happy to help create some structure that positions you to succeed! I have worked with all kinds of students, including students who are working full-time and are juggling competing priorities while trying to complete their project. I see it as my job to help students create strategies to balance these priorities successfully and reach their goals of completing a thesis or dissertation they can feel proud of.
Some students are already in the midst of their process and need some technical support - I'm happy to help with that as well, and love working with students to refine the details of their project, including: (a) conceptualizing the project, (b) clarifying a purpose statement and research questions, (c) conducting a robust literature review, (d) selecting a theoretical or conceptual framework, (e) determining the most appropriate and practical research design, (f) engaging in data collection (g) conducting data analysis, (h) and presenting findings.
Some students are close to completing their project and need some additional support to make it over the finish line - I also am happy to support these students! Typically, that looks like providing proofreading, editing, and presentation preparation.
No matter what your goals might be or what support you might need from me, please know that my job is to help you accomplish your goals. And, it is important to me that students feel like they can accomplish their goals while having fun along the way!
