About Hayley
I'm a lifelong writer who is very passionate about the craft. I started a one-on-one mentorship under a professional writer through a special program at my grade school and have written every day ever since. I'm professionally experienced at many different kinds of writing including, but not limited to: essay, thesis, speechwriting, copywriting, prose, personal essay/op-ed, creative writing/fiction and non-fiction, screenwriting, novel writing. I've worked as a speechwriter and copywriter in the political world, written an award-winning screenplay, and published articles. I also used to own and run a small consultancy firm that specialized in helping students write admissions essays primarily for medical and nursing school applications. My clients were admitted to institutions such as Johns Hopkins and Stanford. I hold a minor in 'Writing in the Professions' from the University of California-Davis, and an MFA in 'Writing and Producing for Television' from Loyola Marymount University.

I have a holistic approach to the tutoring process and spend some time getting to know the student and their project before we get started. I evaluate their experience with the craft of writing, learn about the work they need to do and the goals they have. I then craft a personalized plan to get them where they need to be to write more effectively. Writing (even business writing) is an art that only improves with practice. My goal with every student is that they: 1. Learn the tools they need to write more effectively, and ultimately do so on their own 2. Learn to love writing even if they don't, or love it more if they do!
