About Victoria
I earned my PhD in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Oxford in 2018 (passed with minor corrections), prior to which I graduated top of my class with a 1st Class MSci in Chemistry from Imperial College London. After completing my degrees I have worked in research at several internationally recognised universities/institutions, as well as most recently working for a charity supporting under-resourced secondary school students in the London area to access top universities through both mentoring and one-to-one tuition. During my PhD and research career I have gained large amounts of experience proofreading both undergraduate and postgraduate theses for native and non-native English speakers.

I offer final stage proofreading services for undergraduate and postgraduate STEM theses/dissertations; checking for, identifying and suggesting corrections for errors in the text. Whilst I specialise in Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics, I am able to offer proofreading services for the majority of STEM subjects. I will review your thesis (with all changes tracked for your later approval) and offer a follow-up online session (1 hour) to answer any of your questions. I can work on completed theses or on a chapter by chapter basis. For texts over 20,000 words or 60 pages, I offer a free sample edit so that you can see how I work and if my style suits you.
During my review of your work I will look at the following (in line with the guidelines of most Russell Group universities): 1. Identify typographical, spelling and punctuation errors 2. Identify formatting and layout errors and inconsistencies (e.g. page numbers, font size, line spacing, headers and footers) 3. Identify grammatical and syntactical errors and anomalies or ambiguities in phrasing 4. Identify minor formatting errors in referencing (for consistency and order) 5. Identify errors in the labelling of diagrams, charts or figures 6. Identify lexical repetition or omissions.
I will not: 1. Add to content or check/correct facts, calculations, formulae or equations 2. Rewrite content where meaning is ambiguous or alter arguments/logic where faulty 3. Re-arrange or re-order text 4. Implement or significantly alter a referencing system 5. Re-label diagrams, charts or figures 6. Reduce content to comply with a specified word limit 7. Translate any part of the work into English.
