About Sophie (Plum)
I am a vocalist, drummer, pianist, Tabla player. Studied music at the BRIT School, then a Bachelor in Ethnomusicology at SOAS. Grade 8 distinction vocals and drums Completely hybrid in style and genre - with training in Western Classical, Jazz, Indian Classical and Composition. I also am an artist releasing music as Plumm, that covers other genres such as Blues, Soul, NeoSoul, TripHop and Rock.

I base my lessons on what you want to get out of your instrument. If you want to improve your scales, theory, breathing, tonality, phrasing and so forth I got you. But also another angle is if you feel you know what you’re doing and like how you sound you just wanna take it to the next level of like knowing how to put YOU in the sound, find yourself in the art you’re making I am super committed with all my students to acknowledge that your sound is unique to you. The stories you tell and the way you say it is always within you it’s just finding the right process in drawing that out. I can take you into the world of fully understanding your instrument and manipulating the delivery, tone, timbre etc so that you are a self-sufficient vocalist. I’m also super into warm-ups, and just showing how much you can really utilise your instrument with the right warm-ups that you can take home and develop on

Perfect! She is very laid back and creates a comfortable atmosphere for the session. The lesson is more of a conversation, where both of us established what we are going to work on together and what I need to practice. Moreover, she has a deep understanding of her craft and she truly loves it! Great experience, I highly recommend her as a tutor!

We have those sheets I gave you for exercises which will improve pitching and small warms to begin on the G octaves one lower than middle C. Working mainly on the three note triad.
Lots of song lists that will be fun to work through and we can build a spotify playlist if that works with you to keep a nice collection that we can both add to of things you want to sing and be inspired by and my recommendations also :)
