About Anna
Hi, I'm Anna Szabó (PPRNCM Dist.*) I'm a freelance violinist (Currently playing with BBC Concert Orchestra, BBCNOW, English National Ballet etc.,) and I teach intermediate to advanced students and also adult beginners in Forest Row (RH18). I have 33 years' experience as a performer, (7 years full-time member of the Hallé and 26 years freelance in London, 17 years' experience of film, TV and jingles session recording,) 19 years' teaching experience as a private teacher, and several years' experience giving one-to-one lessons in the largest Steiner School in the country. When my 3 children were growing up I prioritised my teaching over my performing life. As they got older I returned more to performing. Now I am interested in expanding my student base again as I get older and find freelance life and all the travel associated with it rather more taxing than I used to! *Distinction in Professional Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music

Hello! I'm Anna Szabó, PPRNCM Dist. I'm a freelance violinist (currently working with BBC Concert Orchestra, BBCNOW, English National Ballet etc.,) and I teach intermediate to advanced students and also adult beginners in Forest Row (RH18). I have 33 years' experience as a performer, (7 years full-time member of the Hallé and 26 years freelance in London, 17 years' experience of film, TV and jingles session recording,) 19 years' teaching experience as a private teacher, and several years' experience giving one-to-one lessons in the largest Steiner School in the country. My preference is to teach older students but I also have experience teaching young beginners (5+ yrs old) and I tailor my lessons to suit the student. I am happy to take students through the ABRSM exam system or not, as per personal requirements! I teach aural and sight-reading as part of the lesson. Pure music theory lessons are taught separately or as per arrangement.

Anna taught me for around a year when I was 13. She was a brilliant and kind teacher who led me through my Grade 7 ABRSM exam. She was really adaptable and knew exactly the kind of repertoire (both technical exercises and pieces) I needed that would challenge me and develop my playing. I always felt very supported while she was my teacher and think that she really helped to develop my musicality as well as my technique. I loved my lessons with her and would highly recommend!
I cannot recommend Anna enough. I was lucky to be the taught by her for over 10 years, during which time I was consistently given highly nurturing and effective teaching. The wisdom and expertise she has gifted me has shaped the foundations my playing which I will carry through with me my whole life. Anna is an exceptional musician who offers the highest quality of teaching.
