About Jakob
I specialize in sound synthesis and sound design using synthesizers. I have 14 years of experience with synthesis, I studied music technology, production and sound design at Pyramind Institute in San Francisco. I graduated in 2014 and have worked professionally as a producer, sound designer, film composer, touring electronic musician and educator (teaching electronic music production and sound design / synthesis).

We can cover fundamentals of sound synthesis, or I could just help you navigate the synthesis environments you use.
Whether that’s learning to get the most out of your Hardware synthesizers, software synths, VCV rack, learning the ins and outs of Ableton, capturing and manipulating found sounds, all the way to basic circuitry and soldering. To be clear, I do play piano, but I’m not offering stand-alone piano lessons. If you decide learning some piano / keyboard may aid your synthesis journey I can assist and work that in, but if you’re looking for traditional piano lessons I am probably not the teacher for you. I have a professional studio, an extensive amount of hardware synthesizers, a modular eurorack system, samplers, hardware fx, a vast collection of acoustic instruments and the list goes on. All of these things are available for our sessions. I also have a background in ‘traditional’ music, music theory, I play a handful of instruments and sing alongside my primary focus of electronic composition.
If desired we can weave some traditional music education in with the other things we do. I tailor each lesson to the needs of the student and I believe in operating with patience, empathy and understanding. I will always do my best to keep things fun, informative and inspiring.
