• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  I started singing very young, around the age of six. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I would naturally imitate the songs I heard. Very quickly, I noticed that when I sang, my parents and friends instantly became happier. Knowing that my voice could lift people’s spirits motivated me to keep going.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  What I love about music and singing is the fact that you can always keep improving. No matter your level, it gives you a way to express yourself and channel your emotions. I enjoy the therapeutic side of music, and I also love the “nerdy” side, including vocal technique, music theory, and composition.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a “Superprof”?

  I love sharing my passion and seeing how quickly my students progress. I have been teaching for more than 14 years, and watching music make people’s lives brighter and help my students build confidence brings me so much joy.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  As a teenager, from ages 15 to 17, I had a vocal coach who completely changed my life. He was a tenor who could sing opera, rock, blues, and pop. He also had a “tough love” approach that I really appreciated. He pushed me because he knew I could give more. I call it the “hockey coach” method, and it was the first time I felt truly guided toward becoming a real professional. This is the approach I now use with my own students. We do not waste time in lessons!

• What are your keys to success?

  Practice is essential, but it must be guided by clear goals. For my own projects and with my students, we always practice with the intention of eventually recording or performing in front of an audience. Concrete projects such as recordings or concerts are what truly help us grow. We improve without even realizing it, and this is the mindset I bring to my work and to my students, no matter their age or level.
