About Silvia

Hello, I'm Silvia! I'm a Vocal Coach and singer/songwriter. My main instruments, apart from my voice, are bass, piano, guitar and classical flute. I was raised in Italy, now based in London. I come from a musical family, always surrounded by singers, and I have started playing instruments when I was 11. As opposed to most singers though, I have started my singing journey very late in my teenage years, when I was 17, because I was really shy and had lots of self-doubts. On my first year at the Institute, I won the scholarship in Singing, and after another year, I got offered to study in a Music University in London (ICMP) and moved here when I was 19. I have now graduated in BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance specialising in Contemporary Vocals.
-
I have experience preparing students for both Singing Grades 1-8 for RSL exams and Piano Grades for ABRSM.
I have experience with children with changing voices for assigned male/female at birth and with transgender people going through hormone therapy.
I have experience with children and adults in the spectrum.
-
In August 2025, I completed an Intensive course in Musical Theatre at Mountview (London).
In September 2025 I started working with artists who sing rap and trap, focusing on different needs, such as songwriting, rhythm, creating melodies, musical identity, ear training, and more.
I consider singing a practice that is more than being in tune and using the right techniques, it involves a lot of our feelings and emotions. It connects us to deeper and unknown parts of us and the more we explore and the more we get to know each other and our confidence grows.
-
I know how difficult it is to do the scary thing and book the class, but I can promise you that I'll be there helping you through your first steps out of the comfort zone and we'll have lots of fun!
Are you ready to start your journey?

In our classes, we will focus on:
- Your goals as a singer, song-writer, performer, or just the reasons that pushed you here, reading this bio;
- Warm ups to protect your voice before we get into singing;
- Vocal techniques and exercises chosen based on your voice type and needs, for improving breathing support, vocal projection, agility, range, etc;
- Working on a song together (any song of your choice or one picked together).
- Connection to the song, performance, how to project what we feel when we sing!
Your lesson plan will be based on your goals and aspirations. Don't worry if you don't exactly know right now, we can figure it out together! I also provide recorded tracks of vocal exercises to practise when alone.

I hold experience teaching singing to ages 5 to ~60.
I possess an Enhanced DBS on the update service that I am happy to present.
I offer 30, 45 mins. and 1h long lessons, and package plans with discounts.
I can offer my lessons in English and/or Italian.
I offer a free 45 minutes trial session, with initial chat for me to get to know more about you, and for you to see if my vocal classes are a good fit for you.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

    I can't remember a time in my life where I wasn't in love with music. I grew up watching my cousins and uncles singing at events, my first inspiration. At school we had a Music Program, and I decided to study classical flute, and so I began. At the time I was too shy to say that I wanted to study singing, so I waited until I was 17. After I took the first step, everything else got easier and I never stopped!
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

    My favourite genres are rock and soul, although I always like to find something new that can tickle my brain. My favourite artist is Willow, I love how she merges rock and jazz in her music!
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

    The most difficult part about taking singing classes is that you need to come to terms with yourself, let go of the perfectionist in you and just try, make mistakes and try again. What we love about our favourite singers is how they make us feel; the way they do it is through an open heart, being vulnerable and the need to share a message.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

    Am I biased if I say the voice? Every instrument can be complicated, the real work happens in you.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

    Consistency, a positive mindset, taking breaks, and sharing your passion with people!
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

    Definitely Willow, Yebba and Sophia James. Apart from the fact that I think they'd be hilarious and fun to be around, they're extremely creative and inspiring musicians.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

    I remember my first year of uni, in the first month I changed my course to one that had more focus on performance (which is something I struggled with), and not only everyone knew each other and I was the last arrived, but everyone had also more experience in singing than me! In my first class I decided to sing after listening to my classmates performing the song for 2 hours. My face muscles were shaking, you could see it and hear it in my voice. I didn't even know the lyrics! After this episode, I unconsciously set a challenge for myself, and I went from super shaky to dropping on my knees on the stage while singing Bring me to life! It took me a few years, of course, but I can always resonate when students have anxiety before a performance or want to start singing for gaining confidence. You got this!
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

    I consider it very important to bond with my students, I want them to feel comfortable to try things out of their comfort zone. During class, I also try to make suggestions in different ways until we find the one that helps; some students work better with using imagination, some with knowing what happens in our body when we make that specific sound, or maybe you need to hear the sound and then try it yourself. And lastly, one thing that will never miss in my classes is feedback: praise is important and I love telling my students that I can see the progress they're making, as well as telling them that I think we need to focus a few more minutes on that difficult line.
