About Alexander
Hi, I'm Alex and I'm a professional Opera Singer and Singing Teacher based in Newcastle, NSW I hold a Bachelor of Music and Graduate Diploma of music from WAAPA and have over twenty years of performance experience including with Opera Australia with whom I was a Young Artist and am currently a Principal Artist. I have taught for the Bachelor of Music Program at Newcastle University, in schools and privately for over ten years. I also hold a current Working With Children Check. From a very young age, I’ve adored singing and music, acting and being on the stage. I love learning and performing then sharing what I've learned with my students and watching them grow as singers, musicians and artists.

I’m a working opera singer and teach voice with my wife Kyla from our home studio in Lake Macquarie as well as online. I love teaching students of any level but do find that kids twelve or under are often not ready for technique-focused lessons. I have over ten years teaching experience and was the Classical voice teacher for the Bachelor of Music course at Newcastle University and specialize in teaching classical singing and opera for absolute beginners through to aspiring professionals. I’m a firm believer that singing well in any style starts with a strong foundational technique so I work with singers from any genre who are interested in developing a reliable, flexible technique and gaining a better understanding of how their voice works. If you are looking for a well-rounded education as a musical performer, including in acting, music theory, vocal health, languages, repertoire and navigating the industry or if you just want to sing for fun but develop your technique to increase your vocal stamina, power, flexibility and range then get in touch today with any questions you may have.
