About Poppy
I have 12 years of teaching experience and hold a PhD in Music Performance. My academic background provided advanced study in harmony, rhythm analysis, performance discipline, and structured pedagogy. Through years of teaching students with different learning styles, I have developed a patient and organized instructional approach.
I have worked with beginners building basic chord knowledge as well as advanced students refining technique and improvisation skills. I strongly believe that consistent practice combined with clear explanation leads to long-term success. My lessons are structured yet encouraging, ensuring that students feel supported while improving steadily.

My guitar lessons are designed to build strong technical accuracy while helping students develop creative confidence and musical understanding. At the beginning of training, I carefully guide students in correct posture, relaxed shoulder positioning, and balanced finger placement. These details are essential because they prevent strain and improve long-term comfort while playing. We begin with clear chord formation exercises and slow rhythm drills to strengthen coordination between both hands. I explain each step in simple English so students understand how accuracy builds a strong foundation for advanced skills.
As students progress, we expand into barre chord transitions, scale practice across multiple fretboard positions, and fingerstyle techniques that improve precision and flexibility. Each new skill is introduced gradually to maintain steady progress without confusion. Song-based learning is included regularly so students can apply technique in real musical situations. I also focus on timing accuracy through counting exercises and tempo control practice. Regular revision sessions help remove repeated mistakes and reinforce correct hand movement.
Performance development is integrated through full song rehearsals and stage confidence exercises. I guide students in managing nervousness and maintaining focus during performance practice. Over time, learners develop stronger finger strength, smoother transitions, improved tone clarity, and balanced expressive playing. My goal is confident and technically secure guitar performance.
