About David
I'm a professional playwright and adjunct professor at the University of Toronto. I've had 20+ years of experience in the industry and have worked at universities and colleges across Canada and the United States including UBC, University of Guelph, Duke University, and the National Theatre School of Canada.
I am a published author, and a multi-award nominated artist who won the 2015 Governor General's Award for Literature. I have mentored countless young artists in my professional capacity as an Artistic Director and facilitated workshops of dozens of new plays. I tutor using the same methodologies as I employ in my work as a professional playwright and dramaturg. I use a creative and interactive approach to demystify the writing process and make it as accessible as possible to each individual's artistic practice. We work on the student's own creative project, whether it be an assignment for class or their own personal writing that they're seeking to improve upon.
All levels of learners are welcome, while those at the graduate level with some prior education in creative writing will likely find they have the most to gain from our work together.
