Hi, my name is Nils, and I'm a passionate music teacher with over 5 years of teaching experience, a Bachelor's degree in music, and am an award-winning professional musician working in multiple touring projects. I cater to all ages and skill levels, with a bespoke approach suited to each individual student's needs.

I am a friendly and patient teacher, with a focus on positive reinforcement and cultivating a creative environment. Whatever your age, goal or level, I can make sure our lessons are fun and productive! Read on for a more detailed breakdown on each subject that I offer.
Piano: Between 17 years of piano playing under my belt, 7 of those playing professionally, and having a bachelor's degree in jazz piano, I am a very experienced player. Having studied classical, pop, rock, blues and jazz, I have a wide range of knowledge at my disposal, with a deep understanding of the instrument. Whatever you may want from a piano teacher, I can provide it.
Music Theory: Having a Bachelor's degree in music, I have studied music theory at university level. Combined with my working knowledge of how theory applies to real life scenarios, I am well equipped to teach you about music theory, and its actual uses in music, no matter your instrument.
Improvisation: As a professional musician with a Bachelor's degree in jazz and improvisation, I am fully equipped to guide you through the journey from total beginner to proficient improviser, whatever instrument you may play. We will explore approaches to playing over chords, different genres, time signatures, and even more complex topics.
Jazz: Jazz is my passion, and using my depth of knowledge on the subject, I can take you from an enthusiastic newcomer to a swinging soloist. Whether you're totally new to jazz, or already have a good understanding of the topic, we can explore the next step on your instrument of choice.
Composition: If you want to start writing music, want to take your compositional technique to the next level, or even need guidance on how to get a project off the ground, I can use my experiences to guide you. As a solo artist, I have released a whole album of my own compositions, and regularly tour with my band as the project leader and composer.
