I am a passionate music educator, composer and conductor with a Master’s degree in Music Composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London. With experience teaching in leading international schools, I offer personalized, engaging lessons designed around each student’s abilities, interests and goals. Teaching techniques and methods
My teaching approach combines a strong foundation in Western classical music with practical, creative and contemporary approaches to music education. I believe students learn music best when they understand not only how to play or sing, but also why music works.
My lessons are tailored to each student's age, experience, interests and goals. Depending on the student, I use a combination of practical musicianship, music theory, aural training, sight-reading, repertoire, improvisation, composition and creative music-making. I also incorporate technology and digital tools where appropriate to make learning engaging and relevant.
Having worked extensively in international-school settings, I use structured yet flexible teaching methods that encourage curiosity, confidence, independence and musical expression.
The usual structure of a class
Each lesson is adapted to the student's needs, but a typical session may include a short warm-up or technical exercise, followed by work on repertoire and musicianship. We then focus on specific areas for improvement, such as technique, rhythm, notation, musical interpretation or aural skills.
For students interested in composition or songwriting, lessons can include developing musical ideas, harmony, melody, arranging, notation and the use of digital music-production tools.
I aim to make every lesson practical and enjoyable while ensuring that students make clear and measurable progress over time.
My special features as a teacher
I bring a combination of experience as a music educator, composer, performer and conductor. I hold a Master's degree in Music Composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and have taught music in leading international and independent schools.
My background allows me to connect different areas of music rather than teaching them in isolation. Students can develop their instrumental or vocal skills alongside music theory, composition, creativity and a deeper understanding of different musical traditions.
I am particularly interested in helping students discover their own musical identity and become confident, independent musicians rather than simply preparing them to reproduce pieces.
Who are the classes intended for?
My classes are suitable for children, teenagers, university students and adults, from beginners to more advanced musicians.
I particularly enjoy working with school-age students who are studying or preparing for IGCSE, GCSE, A Level or IB Music, as well as students preparing for graded music examinations such as ABRSM and Trinity.
I also welcome adults and students who simply want to learn music for enjoyment, develop their musicianship, improve their singing or instrumental skills, explore composition and songwriting, or deepen their understanding of music.
