About Nevi

My name is Nevi. I'm from Surat in India and moved to Melbourne to study a Master of Artificial Intelligence at RMIT University. I completed my Bachelor of Computer Engineering at Sarvajanik University with a GPA of 9.29 out of 10, which is High Distinction equivalent.

Between my degrees I worked as a Python backend and AI developer at a software company in India. I joined as a three-month intern and was offered a full-time role early on the strength of what I delivered. Over about 18 months I built and shipped production systems for clients in finance and property, working directly with those clients to turn vague business requirements into something that actually ran.

I want to teach because of how I learned. Programming did not click for me immediately. I struggled with the same things most beginners struggle with, and what eventually helped was someone sitting with me and explaining the one piece I had misunderstood rather than restating the whole topic. I remember clearly what it felt like to not understand, and that makes me a more patient teacher than someone for whom it always came easily.

I also spent a lot of my professional work explaining technical ideas to non-technical clients and stakeholders. Translating something complicated into plain language is a skill I have practiced for years, and it is the core of good tutoring.

I take this seriously. I prepare for sessions, I turn up on time, and I would rather admit I need to check something than give you a confident wrong answer.

I'm a Python backend and AI developer with around 18 months of full-time industry experience, currently studying a Master of Artificial Intelligence at RMIT. Before moving to Melbourne I worked at a software company in India building production systems for real clients — including a conversational stock trading platform and a property valuation SaaS I designed and deployed on my own. I mention this because it shapes how I teach: I've had to make code actually work under real constraints, not just pass an assignment.

My approach is hands-on rather than lecture-style. I don't read slides at you. In a typical session we spend most of the time writing and debugging code together, with me asking questions to find where your understanding actually breaks down — because "I don't get loops" and "I don't get how variables change inside loops" need very different explanations. Once I know which one it is, we fix that specific gap and then build back up.

Lessons run 60 minutes as standard, or 90 minutes for project work and assignment support, where the extra time genuinely helps. I usually set a small piece of practice work between sessions and review it at the start of the next one.

I teach beginners through to advanced learners: high school students studying computing or maths, university students working through programming, data structures, databases or machine learning subjects, and career changers learning Python from scratch. I also help with assignment debugging, exam preparation and portfolio projects.

I'm patient with beginners and I don't assume prior knowledge unless you tell me you have it. If something isn't landing, I'll explain it a different way rather than repeating myself louder. Lessons are available online or in person around Melbourne, mostly evenings and weekends around my study timetable.
