I've taught hundreds of students at this point — private lessons, school programs, and workshops internationally. What I enjoy most is helping people with different musical tastes use proper techniques to elevate their sound. I'll give you direct, specific feedback, and I'll meet you wherever you're starting from.
I'm a DJ, label founder (Depalma House Records) and instructor based in Los Angeles. I spent eleven years at Scratch DJ Academy (2012–2023) and played over 1,000 professional gigs across clubs, festivals, corporate events, and brand work.

What I teach
Mixing fundamentals — gear setup, building and organizing a library, cueing, beatmatching, EQ and volume blends, phrasing, song selection
Scratching, beginner through advanced — the core scratches, tricks, and battle routines, taught with notation so you can read and write patterns
Basic Ableton for DJs — warping, edits, intro/outro re-fixes, mashups, bootlegs, BPM transitions
Advanced Ableton composition — original beat making, sample chops, MIDI, arrangement, remixes
Advanced mixing and set construction — harmonic mixing, alternate transitions, four decks, FX, programming a long set
DJ business and label business — getting booked, revenue streams, press kit, content strategy, releasing music
Any gear, any software is welcome.
How lessons run
We start with a conversation — where you are, what you listen to, what you want to be able to do — and I build a plan from there. Each lesson: a warm-up on the fundamentals, one new technique broken down slowly with diagrams and real examples, then you're on the gear while I coach and correct in real time. You'll leave with an assignment for next session, always in the genre you actually want to play.
Ask me anything while you're there. After this many years I've heard just about every question there is about DJing, and I've got an answer for all of them — even if the answer is my opinion, and I'll tell you when it is.
Who it's for
All ages, kids through adults. Complete beginners, intermediate DJs stuck at a plateau, producers who want their tracks to work on a dancefloor, and turntablists working toward battles. If you've got a date on the calendar, I run a short series that ends with you playing a set at your own party or event. I also design group curriculum for school electives and after-school programs.
Turntables, controllers, and Serato. Industry-standard gear at the studio, and I'm happy to help you sort out your setup at home.

For on-site visits there is a 2 hour minimum. If you visit my studio you are free to bring your own laptop and controller, My home studio setup is Turntables, Serato, and Ableton on Mac.
