About Joylyn
Twenty years ago I started giving private lessons in English as a Foreign Language, and for the past ten years, I have prepared international high school students to excel in the English related sections of the required college entrance exams including SAT, ACT, SSAT, GRE, GMAT, and TOEFL. I also helped those same students jump through the myriad of hoops that the college applications and essays put before them. My students over the years had varied academic strengths and weaknesses, which made it all the more fulfilling to see each one succeed.

One of the many reasons I prefer tutoring is that I can tailor the lesson plan to each of my student's learning style and pace. This freedom allows me to spend as much or as little time on each topic as needed, depending on the student. I deplore 'busy work' and luckily do not have to use it as a filler. I prefer getting all the work done in class and rarely assign homework; students have enough of that to do without my adding to the load.
