About Debbie
My name is Debbie and I have worked with children for approximately 10+ years.
I began by teaching English abroad (this is where and when I knew I wanted to become a teacher).
After a successful year abroad (in Paris and Milan), I returned home to become a Senior Playworker at an after-school club. I absolutely loved this role and recognise that play is fundamental to a child's learning and development. If you choose me as a tutor, you will soon recognise I use lots of games and play to help facilitate and support an individual's learning. I love to be as interactive as possible.
Finally, I was successful in my application to study for a PGDE in Primary Education, graduating in 2021 (Yes, I learned how to be a teacher during COVID....online!) It was hard, and sometimes felt near impossible, but with sheer determination, and what felt like I spent 24 hours in my room for 9 months, I became a teacher for my local council.

I am an innovative, dedicated, hard-working individual who places the children's needs at the forefront of everything I do.
I take a holistic approach, tailoring lessons and resources to individuals' needs, working cooperatively with students to reach their full potential.
I enjoy getting to know students first and foremost, learning how pupils work, their styles and what kind of support they feel they need.
Lessons typically last an hour, however timing can be modified to suit the individual.
I have worked as a Primary school teacher for 5 years, working across a wide range of schools, meeting children with diverse range of backgrounds and needs. This has allowed me to develop my practice and consider what strategies and methods I can use to fully support individuals to reach their full potential.
As a primary teacher, working in the Curriculum for Excellence (Scotland), I will offer Maths & Numeracy as well as Literacy for students of ages 5-14.
