About Callum
I am a young teacher who has been lucky enough to learn from incredible educators throughout my life. Their passion, patience and creativity shaped my own love of learning, and it was through them that I realised I wanted to do the same for others. My goal now is to instil that same excitement, curiosity and confidence in every learner I work with — and hopefully inspire a few future teachers along the way. My recent primary teacher training strengthened this even further, giving me hands-on experience teaching English across KS1 and KS2 and helping me develop a calm, structured and supportive teaching style.
In my online lessons, I bring together everything I’ve learned so far: strong foundations in phonics, clear modelling, adaptive scaffolding, and a warm, encouraging approach that helps learners feel safe to try, practise and grow. I support early readers, EAL learners, and older students who want to explore English literature or develop their descriptive writing. My lessons are designed to be engaging, structured and personalised, helping learners build confidence step by step. Whether a student is blending sounds for the first time or analysing a poem, I aim to make English feel enjoyable, accessible and full of possibility — just as my own teachers once did for me.

My online English lessons are shaped by the strong foundation I built during my primary teacher training, which I recently completed. This experience developed my ability to teach English from the very beginning, including phonics, early reading strategies, modelling, scaffolding and adapting learning for different needs. I use clear explanations, guided practice and personalised feedback to help learners progress confidently, whether they are blending sounds, building vocabulary as EAL learners or strengthening grammar and sentence skills.
Lessons typically last 45–60 minutes and follow a simple, consistent structure: a warm-up, clear modelling, guided practice, independent application and feedback. I recently completed my teacher training and will hold QTS from 10th July, giving me strong experience teaching English across KS1 and KS2 — including reading fluency, grammar, literature study and descriptive writing. My sessions are suitable for children aged 5–12, EAL learners of any age, and older students who want support with English literature, essay skills or creative writing. Every lesson is calm, structured and tailored to the learner’s individual goals.
