About Leah
During my time in primary and early secondary school, I struggled due to a lack of tailored support that worked on my specific areas of strengths and difficulties. As I gained more confidence and chose subjects I really enjoyed in GCSE and A-level, I realised my passion for helping others to have a positive experience of learning, as it should be fun and motivating!
I studied History, Politics, and Psychology at A-level with A-A* grades.
I am studying BSc Educational Psychology at the University of Manchester in order to strengthen my abilities in this line of work. Last year I had a placement in a primary school that I loved, as I got to teach children one-on-one which they really benefitted from. I have also had years of experience as a young Beaver-Scout leader, therefore I am very confident taking with children and helping them while maintaining a lot of their independence.

As an Educational Psychology student, I am highly understanding of individual's needs, with a quick ability to recognise areas of strengths and weaknesses. I have a lot of patience and take a positive approach to learning. I understand the need of well-tailored personal support that encourages students to recognise their own abilities and feel confident in their progress. My sessions can last from 30-60 mins. I do not have formal teaching qualifications but I a very confident tutoring students and take the responsibility seriously. I have had TA experience as well as years of volunteering experience with children. I have also had experience in year 9 classes for GCSE history.
