About Soumi
Hello! I’m Soumi, a PhD-qualified scientist and an enthusiastic educator who genuinely enjoys helping children discover the joy of learning.
My academic background is in Biology and Biomedical Sciences, and I have many years of experience working with scientific research and explaining complex ideas clearly. Over the years, home educating my own children has also given me a wonderful opportunity to develop a practical, child-centred approach to teaching.
I believe every child can learn when they are given the right encouragement, explanation and time. I want my lessons to be a place where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again — without feeling pressured.
I particularly enjoy turning challenging topics into simple, interesting and relatable learning experiences. Whether we are exploring numbers, reading, science or the natural world, I like to connect learning with things children already know and enjoy.
I teach UK National Curriculum Primary KS1 across all subjects and KS2 Biology/Science, offering friendly and personalised online lessons.
I became a tutor because teaching is something I find genuinely fulfilling. Seeing a child move from “I can't do this” to “Oh, now I understand!” is one of the most rewarding parts of education — and that is exactly the kind of progress I hope to help every student achieve.

Making Learning Click, One Child at a Time!
I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, curious and confident. My lessons are friendly, engaging and tailored to each child's individual learning style, pace and needs.
I use clear explanations, questioning, conversation, visual resources and real-life examples to turn difficult concepts into something children can understand and enjoy. I encourage children to ask questions, think independently and explain their ideas rather than simply memorising answers.
Lessons are usually 45–60 minutes, depending on the child's age, concentration and learning needs. Younger learners benefit from shorter, varied activities, while older students can explore concepts in greater depth.
I am a PhD-qualified scientist with a strong academic background in Biology and extensive experience understanding, analysing and explaining complex scientific concepts. I have also gained hands-on educational experience through home educating my own primary-aged children, planning lessons, creating activities and adapting learning to individual needs.
I offer UK National Curriculum Primary KS1 tutoring across all subjects, as well as KS2 Biology/Science support. Lessons are suitable for children approximately ages 5–11.
