About Maria
Hi! I’m Maria, and I’m an English Literature tutor with a genuine passion for reading, analysing texts, and helping students build confidence in English.
I know that English Literature can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re expected to analyse characters, themes, and language in detail. My aim is to make lessons engaging, approachable, and tailored to each student’s needs. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and to leave each session with a better understanding of the text and greater confidence in their own ideas.
I chose to teach English Literature because I enjoy exploring how stories, poetry, and plays reflect people, emotions, and society. I believe there isn’t always just one “right” interpretation, and I love helping students develop their own opinions while learning how to support them with evidence.
Whether you’re looking to improve your essay writing, strengthen your analytical skills, prepare for assessments, or simply gain confidence in English, I’m here to support you every step of the way. My goal is not only to help you achieve better results but also to help you discover that English Literature can be interesting, thought-provoking, and enjoyable.

I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE English Literature, and I aim to help students build both their confidence and their understanding of the subject. During lessons, I will read and analyse the set texts alongside my students, explaining historical context, language, themes, and any older references that may be difficult to understand.
I will also carefully go through the specific books and plays my students are studying for their GCSEs, providing in-depth explanations and teaching them how to write high-quality analytical paragraphs. This includes structuring responses effectively, selecting relevant evidence, and fully justifying their interpretations to meet the highest mark scheme criteria.
I also offer my tutoring at very reasonable prices, making high-quality English Literature support accessible to all students. I also help students with all exam boards.
