About ZAKUAN AZIZI
I am an Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology with over 14 years of experience in higher education. I hold a PhD in Biology from the University of York, where I specialized in Phytomining, alongside a Master's degree in Environmental Biotechnology.
My core academic and research expertise revolves around bioremediation, environmental sustainability, and STEM education. As an award-winning academic—recognized with the International Green Gown Award for sustainability leadership—and a certified Professional Technologist (Ts.), I am deeply committed to translating complex scientific theories into accessible, engaging knowledge.
Beyond the lecture hall, I actively champion community empowerment and environmental initiatives, such as co-founding Freecycle Kuantan and leading the Sci-ON STEM outreach flagship.
My ultimate goal as an educator is to inspire critical thinking and equip learners with the high-level biological and environmental expertise needed to excel in their academic and professional journeys.
