As a pre-med senior with years of 1-on-1 tutoring experience, I specialize in helping students master elementary math, pre-algebra, and algebra. My approach ensures that students truly understand each concept, guiding them step-by-step through the material. Teaching Method and Techniques:
I use a student-centered, step-by-step approach, focusing on understanding concepts rather than brute force memorization. I break down complex math problems into smaller, manageable steps, using real-world examples to help students connect math to everyday life. I also incorporate visual aids, activities, and frequent questions for understanding to ensure progress.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up (5-10 min): Review of previous material or a quick mental math exercise.
Introduction of New Topic (15-20 min): Explanation of the topic with examples tailored to the student’s level.
Guided Practice (20-30 min): We work through problems together, gradually increasing in difficulty.
Independent Practice (10-15 min): The student works independently while I provide guidance as needed.
Recap and Homework (5-10 min): Summary of the lesson’s key points, assigning light homework depending on if there is need for reinforcement.
Times do vary for each student , as everyone is different in the areas they need help with.
