About Abongwe
I have been a teaching assistant at the University of the Witwatersrand. My duties as a teaching assistant included supervising, explaining and demonstrating first year biology practical sessions (with a group of not less than 15 students). In addition, I have also marked students' essay scripts and have been exposed to the world of assisting in teaching.
I am a native isiXhosa speaker and the passion for both teaching and languages merged together to produced a Xhosa tutor. I have had students (young and old from 8-30y/o) who have not been exposed to the language and have had no background knowledge. Now they are able to converse and even express themselves in writing.

Hello, I am a practicing microbiologist from the University of the Witwatersrand. I am also a part-time isiXhosa tutor in areas around City of Tshwane and City of Johannesburg. The Xhosa lessons that are offered are tailored to meet the students' individual needs, be it for academic purposes (IsiXhosa Home langauge/First additional language as required by the Department of basic education) or for conversational purposes.
In the lessons, one can expect to learn the following:
-Spelling and pronunciation of clicks and other isiXhosa words
-Reading isiXhosa comprehensions and stories
-Understanding that the language is tonal and phonetically written
Lessons are offered for all ages and reading material will be provided at no extra cost.
