About Paul
I am a Surrey and London based education professional in the UK offering in-person and remote tutoring for all students seeking support in their GCSE and A-level Geography courses regardless of exam board such as: Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Eduqas, WJEC, CIE, and any others.
For the past 3 years I have been completing my Bachelor of Science in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London, with notable modules such as Mathematics for Economics scored 78%. Prior to this, I completed my A-levels in Mathematics, Psychology, and Geography (grade A) and 11 GCSEs to a grade 9 - 7 standard achieving: 2 grade 9s in double-award science and Philosophy, 6 x grade 8s in Mathematics, English language and literature, Geography, Psychology, Double-award Science and a grade 7 in Further Mathematics.
To supplement my teaching I have studied the updated EYFS (Early years foundation stages) and the Gatsby Good Career Guidance for secondary school students in the UK. These both enable me to provide tailored educational support in conjunction with the most current educational and careers advice provided to your children that their schools must follow.
I have worked with children and secondary school students throughout my life having both parents working in the education sector. I spent all of my teenage years helping in the childminding business teaching children aged 3 - 10 years old with their Mathematics and English skills.
I believe in learning through play and games format for children not in secondary school. I blend this with more typical lesson structured and written focused aspects within my lessons but maintain focus through engaging tasks over rote repetition.

Typically, in-person hour-long sessions beginning with a focus on encouraging a curious, question-led approach to learning. I aim to build solid geographical foundations particularly in younger secondary students by helping them develop critical thinking and analytical skills that connect their knowledge from other subjects such as History and Politics.
My sessions focus on deepening understanding of geographical processes, case studies, and command word interpretation, helping students gain confidence in both human and physical Geography. Regardless of your exam board in either A-level or GCSE Geography you'll be split across physical and human Geography, this is the same all the way up to Geography Master's programmes at university so here are the topics I can help you with specifically:
A-level Geography (any exam boards):
Human geography - 1. water and carbon cycles, 2. coastal systems and landscapes, 3. Glacial systems and landscapes, 4. hazards, 5. Ecosystem and biodiversity.
Physical Geography - 1. Global systems and global governance, 2. changing places, 3. Contemporary urban environments, 4. Population and the environment, 5. resource security.
NEA - GIS, statistical techniques, field sketching and sampling methods.
GCSE Geography (any exam board):
Physical Geography - 1. Natural Hazards, 2. Ecosystems, 3. rivers, 4. coasts.
Human Geography - 1. Urban issues, 2, Changing economic world, 3. resource management, 4. global development.
Geographical applications and fieldwork - map skills (grid references and scale), GIS basics, and field sketches.
My lessons centre around case studies to provide practical examples for processes, cycles, and to benefit exam technique with Geography's example heavy marking schemes.
I have worked within several schools in the Northamptonshire area as an assistant tutor, supporting students aged 11-18 in preparation for their GCSE and A-level Geography exams. I am familiar with all major UK exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, and tailor each session to meet the specific demands of the syllabus, exam technique, structured writing, and model answers.
I completed my own GCSEs, A-levels, and undergraduate degree achieving top grades in GCSE and A-level Geography, grade 8 and A respectively. My tutoring is ideal for GCSE and A-level students seeking to improve essay structure, content recall, and exam strategy in Geography.
I offer both online and in-person support, for those seeking in-person sessions, I am based in Surrey and can travel into London as needed. I am flexible with scheduling and am available on weekends.
