About Jasmine
My desire to help support students enjoy maths is based on my own lack of confidence in my ability in primary school. When I was younger I believed that maths wasn't for me as there were always people around me who got it a lot faster than I did. However, through learning different techniques I came to love maths and even did it for A Level which is something I would've never imagined when I was younger.
I have an 8 in GCSE Maths and a B at A Level both using the AQA exam board.
While I moved on to study politics at university, I have used statistics in many of my modules including in my dissertation and it still remains something I am very interested in.
From my own experience of a lack of belief in my ability, I know how helpful it is to have someone who is fighting in your corner and takes time to help you understand issues and I would love to offer my time and support to students who feel the same.

My lessons are for students wanting support in maths from Key Stage 2 to GCSE. My aim of my sessions is to help boost students' confidence in maths by helping to simplify questions and make maths fun and relatable. I adjust my teaching style depending on how students respond the best and like to use students' interests such as sports to help make maths more interesting.
While I have not tutored maths formally before I have helped support my two younger brothers with their maths and I am currently helping my youngest brother with GCSE maths and so I am knowledgable on the AQA maths curriculum.
I have also had a lot of experience working with students aged 10-17 through being an activity leader at a language school for 3 years and believe I am a kind, dependable tutor who always puts the student first.
My lessons are normally 40 minutes to an hour long and are very interactive. I usually choose one topic to focus on per lesson. I will provide a few questions as homework before the class so I can understand the student's current knowledge on the topic and then go through questions together in the class to help the student understand the different methods and techniques. I will often try and make the questions as engaging as possible to help to unpack the steps to make it easy to follow. I will then provide the student with a few questions to answer independently to finish the class and to strengthen what they have learnt. I am very patient and want to provide a safe place for the student to feel comfortable to ask questions when they are not sure.
