About Tucker

Welcome! My academic journey began at The Citadel The Military College of South Carolina, where I earned a degree in Political Science with a focus in Pre-law. This rigorous education instilled in me a strong foundation in critical thinking, political thought, and communication. After graduating, I dedicated the early years of my professional career to working with teenagers as both an educator and a professional swim coach. In these roles, I developed a unique ability to relate to students on a personal level, understanding the pressures and challenges they face both academically and socially. This connection allowed me to foster an environment where students felt supported and empowered to grow. Following my time in education, I transitioned to a corporate role in the insurance industry, where I applied my political science expertise directly in government relations, compliance, and discrepancy research. These responsibilities honed my ability to navigate complex topics, communicate effectively, and provide solutions in high-pressure environments. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business at the University of South Carolina, recognized as the nation's top international business school. This continued education reflects my commitment to lifelong learning and my ability to bring fresh, real-world perspectives to the table. As someone who has walked the path of academic and professional challenges, I am excited to work with you to achieve your goals. My experience spans a variety of settings, from the classroom to the boardroom, and I am confident in my ability to provide tailored support to meet your unique needs. Whether you need help understanding course material, developing critical thinking skills, or navigating your academic journey, I am here to guide you with professionalism, empathy, and a passion for learning. Together, we can unlock your potential and help you succeed.

My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of consistent communication regarding the topics students are studying in class. This approach enables me to tailor each session to the specific material being covered, while also addressing any challenges or gaps in understanding. By engaging in dialogue about the curriculum, I can prepare thoroughly and ensure that my guidance aligns with the student's unique learning needs. Teaching Method and Techniques A central technique in my approach is exploring and understanding diverse belief systems, even those with which a student may initially disagree. This fosters critical thinking and promotes a deeper, more balanced understanding of complex ideas. Additionally, I believe in providing a structured yet adaptable framework, guiding students toward mastering fundamental concepts while encouraging them to explore areas of personal or academic interest for deeper learning. Typical Lesson Plan Each lesson is tailored to the specific needs of the student. Typically, sessions begin with a brief review of topics communicated in advance as challenging. From there: Key Topic Breakdown: I identify and explain the critical elements of the subject matter, offering real-world examples or analogies to clarify complex ideas. Engaged Discussion: We dive into interactive discussions to test comprehension and explore different perspectives. Recommendations for Further Learning: I provide targeted suggestions for independent exploration to reinforce and expand on what was covered during the session. What Sets Me Apart What distinguishes me as a tutor is my relatability and understanding of the student experience. As a recent college graduate, I am acutely aware of the pressures and challenges that students face both academically and personally. Beyond delivering subject-specific knowledge, I aim to share practical advice and strategies for thriving in the classroom and beyond. Who the Lessons Are For High School Students: Studies in American politics, government, and introductory political theories. College Students: Specialized topics in political thought, theories, and advanced analysis in political science. By blending subject expertise with empathy and a modern perspective, I strive to help students not only achieve their academic goals but also grow into informed and thoughtful individuals.
