About Hunter
I have over 8 years of experience teaching piano to college students, helping them strengthen technical skills, musical understanding, and creative expression. My teaching style is flexible and student-focused, adapting to each learner’s goals, pace, and interests. I combine traditional piano techniques with innovative methods such as improvisation exercises, music composition, modern music arrangements, and interactive sight-reading to make lessons engaging and fun.
I emphasize building strong technical skills, understanding theory, rhythm, and sight-reading, while encouraging students to explore their personal style and express themselves creatively. I also focus on performance confidence, stage presence, and emotional connection to music. My mission is to create a motivating and supportive learning environment where students feel inspired to progress, challenge themselves, and develop a lifelong love for piano. My piano teaching methodology is creative, structured, and student-focused. I aim to mentor students while helping them develop independence and confidence in music.
Creativity is central to my lessons. Students explore songs they enjoy, experiment with improvisation, and learn to express themselves through music. This makes learning fun and inspiring.
As a critical thinker, I guide students to understand rhythm, chords, scales, finger coordination, and musical expression. I break down complex concepts into simple, practical steps. Students learn how to analyze and improve their playing.
Accountability is emphasized through goal setting and consistent practice routines. I support students in tracking their progress, staying disciplined, and achieving their musical goals.
In addition to piano, I teach music theory, sight reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, keyboard skills, and basic composition to strengthen musical foundations.
