About Dominic
Nine years of piano teaching has been built on a parallel career accompanying. I hold a Bachelor of Music, and I have played for singers, choirs, exams and theater productions for years. Accompanying paid my way through my degree, and it remains my favorite work.
My teaching is generous and practical. I share the tricks professionals use, including how to cover a singer's memory slip without anyone noticing. A student used that exact skill at her first paid accompanying job, and the singer booked her again immediately.
I train accompanists, band pianists and anyone who wants to support other musicians. Chord fluency, chart reading and ensemble instincts form the core of my lessons. Soloists have many teachers, but accompanists need specialist guidance, and I provide it.
Accompanying is a craft, and crafts can be learned by anyone. If you want to become the pianist others love to make music with, let us begin. Send me a message and tell me who you dream of accompanying.

Accompanying begins with putting someone else first. My students learn to follow a singer's breathing, forgive their surprises and make them sound good. We rehearse these skills with me singing, sometimes deliberately unpredictably.
Chord progressions are the working accompanist's vocabulary. We drill common progressions in all keys until hands find them automatically. One of my students now plays in a function band and credits this drilling for his quick learning at rehearsals.
Professional standards are trained from early on. Charts are read accurately, transpositions handled calmly and time kept steady under pressure. Reliability gets pianists rehired more than brilliance does.
I also teach the social craft of accompanying. Knowing when to lead and when to follow is musicianship too. Students leave ready for real musical work.
