About Yan Shin
Hello, I’m Yan, a passionate violin and piano teacher with over 5 years of teaching experience. I began learning piano at the age of 5, and picked up the violin at 6. My musicality deepened during my time in high school, where I was actively involved in the ensemble, took on the role of conductor, and participated in several performances and competitions. I hold ABRSM Grade 8 certifications in violin, piano, and music theory, and earned my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2019.

I teach students of all ages and levels—whether they’re preparing for graded exams, aiming to push their musical boundaries, or simply looking to enjoy music as a lifelong hobby. I believe in tailoring each lesson to suit the student’s unique goals, strengths, and learning pace, ensuring that they feel both supported and inspired throughout their musical journey.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music is not just about perfection, but about growth—with patience, consistency, and love. I encourage creative expression and free play, helping students view their instrument not just as a technical challenge, but as a powerful tool for personal expression.
Currently, I offer face-to-face lessons in the comfort of students’ homes. Online theory lessons can also be arranged if preferred.
