About Ali
I am a composer, pianist, sound artist and music teacher. I have a PhD in music - composition from the University of Calgary, and I have been teaching piano and composition (songwriting) at my private studio and universities for over 20 years.

I encourage my students to play what they enjoy (classical, popular, or new music) and sometimes I arrange their favorite pieces for them. Every week we work on both musicality and interpretation of different musical styles, as well as physical fluidity of motion and comfort at the piano.
When students are interested in writing their own original music, we also work on developing their musical creativity and make it an integrated part of our lessons.
