About Iona
I have 4 years of experience teaching piano and hold a PhD in Piano Pedagogy. During my career, I have worked with students from different backgrounds and experience levels, helping them build strong foundations and meaningful musical skills. Teaching piano allows me to combine education, creativity, and personal connection.
My teaching approach focuses on clarity, encouragement, and individual growth. Every student learns differently, so I adapt lessons to support their strengths and learning style. I believe confidence develops when students feel supported and understand their progress clearly.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy studying keyboard literature, exploring new teaching methods, and participating in collaborative music projects. These experiences help me keep lessons engaging and relevant. I am passionate about helping students enjoy music while reaching their full potential at the piano.

My piano lessons focus on building musical fluency through clear instruction and consistent practice. Students work on finger coordination, reading music, rhythm accuracy, hand independence, chord understanding, and performance skills in a supportive learning environment. I aim to make learning both effective and enjoyable from the very beginning.
Lessons include technical exercises, sight-reading activities, rhythm development, listening practice, and creative musical tasks. Students are encouraged to understand the purpose behind each exercise so they can develop stronger musical awareness and confidence. Learning is paced according to individual needs and goals.
I especially enjoy helping learners become comfortable at the keyboard while developing their own musical voice. Through patient guidance and structured progress, students build lasting skills and greater confidence in their abilities. My goal is to make piano learning rewarding and inspiring.
