About Monica
I took piano lessons for 10 years since Kindergarten and performed in many recitals. In High School, I just played for fun but also provided music at Hospice. In College I began volunteering for Musical Empowerment teaching beginner level K-12 students and preparing them for bi-annual concerts.

My approach is to combine reading music and playing equally. I believe the foundation to learning to play any instrument is to learn the theory behind it. Especially in beginner levels, I refuse to move on until the student is confident and mastery in a necessary topic. I help the student apply the music theory to the keyboard itself as a way of making it stick while also making it fun.

Details
My rates remain the same for all levels of students. To promote social distancing, I do offer virtual lessons at a discounted rate. Anywhere in Chapel Hill/Carrboro does not require a travel fee but elsewhere is a $5 fee. Lastly, I require a 24 hour notice if you plan to cancel/re-schedule, but preferably as soon as possible.
