About Aruna
My academic background is primarily in physics, which culminated in a PhD in theoretical high energy physics, after which I did a one year postdoc in bioinformatics. I also have some experience with climate-focused machine learning. During my PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate General Physics, Statistical Physics, and Electricity and Magnetism courses. Over the course of the past 14 years, I have lived in India, Iceland, France and Canada and worked closely on projects with people coming from a variety of backgrounds. This has given me a strong sense of adaptability, open-mindedness and patience. I am always happy to meet new people and explore ideas together! :)

During my years in academia, I noticed that the primary reason most students avoid pursuing degrees in the supposedly “hard” sciences and even why I struggled at various points in my journey as a graduate student, was that often the foundational principles of math and science are not explored or explained thoroughly at the school level. I will make sure that I understand where exactly you are in your studies, and curate lesson plans to strengthen your foundational concepts and build on from there.
I am happy to teach Physics and Mathematics to all levels of students ranging from middle school to undergraduate college.
