About Olumide

Hi, I’m Olu — a photographer, creative mentor and project manager with a First-Class degree in Photography and over eight years of real-world experience. I’ve worked with household names like BBC, The Guardian, RWA, UWE, and Sky Kids, telling visual stories that have reached thousands. I teach because I love helping people find their voice through photography. Whether you're a beginner, building a portfolio, or refining your creative eye, I’ll meet you where you are with practical lessons, honest feedback, and an approach that blends technical skill with creative instinct. If you’re after a tutor who’s approachable, experienced, and rooted in the real-world creative industry — I’d love to work with you. My teaching approach is simple: meet every student where they are and build from there. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all photography lessons. Everyone learns differently and is drawn to different parts of the craft — whether it’s capturing people, telling stories, mastering manual settings, or creating work that means something. That’s why every lesson I teach is tailored to your goals, pace, and style. Each session is typically one hour long, and combines a mix of the following: Warm-up and check-in: We review what you've been working on and set a clear focus for the lesson. Skill-building: I introduce or develop a key concept, tool, or technique (this could be creative, technical, or industry-related depending on your level and interest). Practical work: You’ll apply what we’re learning through guided exercises, either live in the session or through take-away tasks. Feedback and discussion: We’ll look at your work together, identify what's working, and where to go next. Inspiration: I’ll often share examples from real-world photographers and creative briefs to show how these skills apply in the industry. My lessons cover everything from camera basics and composition to more advanced areas like photo editing, storytelling through images, developing a creative brief, or building a portfolio. We can also focus on specific genres like portraits, editorial work, or social impact storytelling — depending on your interests. What sets my method apart is that it’s grounded in real experience. I’ve worked in the creative industry for over eight years, with brands like BBC, The Guardian, Sky Arts, and Bristol Old Vic, and I’ve mentored emerging photographers in both professional and community settings. So whether you’re a complete beginner or a working creative looking to sharpen your craft, I know how to help you move forward with confidence. I teach teenagers to adults, at beginner and intermediate levels, and I’m just as comfortable explaining aperture to someone picking up a camera for the first time as I am helping someone refine their portfolio or creative direction. If you’re after a tutor who listens, adapts, challenges, and supports — this might be the right fit for you.
