About Will
I am a recent graduate of Colorado College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. I underwent extensive training to become a writing tutor in college, attaining international tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), and going on to tutor students in a wide range of subjects. Through Colorado College, I also worked with a local high school to tutor Native American students. I am most passionate about tutoring students in philosophy, English and literature, and I am experienced in tutoring ESL students in both these subjects and others. I also enjoy working with students on their college application essays. I believe that every student has something interesting to say, and it is deeply rewarding to see a student realize this as we work together to craft a personal statement that is persuasive, concise and, most importantly, authentically their own. I am a strong believer in working collaboratively with students to foster a relaxed environment in which they can explore what interests them and by doing so develop an independent desire to learn.

I believe that a good tutor should make a student a better writer and not merely fix their writing. I work collaboratively with students so that they can come to understand both the strengths and weaknesses in their writing, and then equip them with the tools to improve their weaknesses and leverage their strengths so that they can communicate what they have to say clearly and persuasively. While as the professional I am partly there to advise on technical matters of grammar and citation, I view my role mainly as that of the navigator: I see where the student is and where they want to go in their writing (which oftentimes is not immediately clear to them), and merely serve to guide them in the right direction while they do the bulk of the driving.
