About Ciaran
I am passionate about both science and teaching, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with my students. Outside of tutoring and research, I enjoy staying active and regularly take part in rowing. I am also involved in a range of social and networking events that help me continue developing both personally and professionally, within and beyond Oxford. My commitment to lifelong learning and growth inspires the same curiosity and motivation I aim to instil in my students.

I am an experienced Biology and Chemistry tutor with over 7 years of experience teaching students from GCSE to A Level. I hold an Integrated Master’s degree in Biochemistry with Honours from the University of Warwick, where I also completed a year in industry at GSK, gaining valuable real-world scientific experience. I have volunteered with educational charities, helping students of all backgrounds build confidence and achieve academic success. My lessons are personalised to each student’s needs, with an engaging, interactive teaching style that focuses on deep understanding and strong exam technique. I regularly use past paper–style questions to help students apply their knowledge effectively and feel confident under exam conditions. Each session lasts one hour, and I create a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity and independent thinking. Alongside tutoring, for my PhD I work in cutting-edge research developing new treatments for childhood leukaemia at the University of Oxford, which allows me to bring real-world scientific insight and enthusiasm into my teaching.
