About Jeff
I’m currently completing doctoral studies at York University and have eight years of university teaching experience at York and Brock University.
I hold Master’s degrees in Philosophy and Studies in Comparative Literature and the Arts, along with an Honors BA in Philosophy and Film Studies.
I understand the demands of university-level research and writing from both sides of the classroom: as a graduate student completing advanced academic work and as a former Teaching Assistant evaluating and supporting student writing.
I can help with individual assignments or provide ongoing support throughout a semester or larger research project.

University writing often becomes difficult not because you don’t understand the subject, but because you’re expected to turn complex ideas into a clear, well-supported academic argument.
I help undergraduate and graduate students work through that process.
Sessions can include:
• narrowing a research topic
• developing research questions
• creating a thesis or central argument
• planning long research papers
• organizing complex ideas
• strengthening academic argumentation
• improving clarity and structure
• reviewing drafts
• responding to supervisor or professor feedback
• preparing for major research projects
I’m especially useful for students working in Philosophy, humanities, literature and social science disciplines.
My approach is collaborative. I’ll help you identify weaknesses, ask the questions that strengthen your thinking and explain how to improve the work without taking over your writing.
