About Yvonne
I’m a passionate and experienced tutor with over three years of teaching assistantships at the University of Toronto, as well as private tutoring experience. I completed my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto and am now pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus on computational neuroscience. I specialize in tutoring high school and early university (100–200 level) mathematics, physics, and programming courses (Python/Java/C/C++, algorithms, operating systems). I’ve led tutorials, designed course content, and mentored students across multiple high school and university-level engineering courses. Outside of tutoring, I actively participate in science outreach programs such as the Discovery program, a week-long research project for high school students mentored by graduate students, and Science Rendezvous, a science fair aimed at kids before high school. I’m also involved in various conferences for undergraduates and high schoolers. I combine technical depth with an enthusiastic, student-focused teaching style.

I keep things flexible, collaborative, and focused on understanding—not just getting the right answer. I start each session by asking what you’re working on or struggling with, and we go from there—breaking things down, working through examples, and building up your confidence step by step.
I work with high school and undergrad students in math, physics, and programming. Whether you need help with homework, exams, coding projects, or career/life advice, I tailor each session to your goals.
What sets me apart is that I’ve been on both sides—as a student and as a TA—and I really care about making things click. I also love mentoring students who are exploring STEM or thinking about research or grad school. My goal is to help you learn, not just get through the class.
