About Mina
Hi, I’m Mina! I’m currently in my third year of a PhD at WEHI, where I work in biomedical research. I originally moved to Australia from Germany to pursue my PhD, and throughout my studies, I’ve developed a strong background in biology, molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, and related areas of science.
I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand things that initially seem difficult or confusing. When I tutor, I try to explain concepts in a way that actually makes sense to the student rather than simply giving them an answer to memorize. I’m patient, approachable, and happy to explain something in several different ways until it clicks.
I know that studying can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re struggling with a particular topic or preparing for an exam. My aim is to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling embarrassed.
Whether you’re looking to catch up on topics you’ve found difficult, prepare for an upcoming assessment, or simply become more confident in a subject, I’ll tailor our lessons to what you need. I want students to leave each lesson feeling like they understand the material better and are more confident tackling it on their own.

My approach to tutoring is focused on making difficult concepts simple, clear, and engaging. I believe students learn best when they understand *why* something works rather than simply memorizing information. I therefore adapt each lesson to the student’s individual learning style, current level, and specific goals.
I use a combination of clear explanations, worked examples, practice questions, and active discussion. I encourage students to ask questions and work through problems themselves, while providing guidance and feedback whenever they need it. I also focus on identifying gaps in understanding and building strong foundations before moving on to more advanced topics.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student’s needs. Each lesson is structured around the student’s goals, with time dedicated to explaining concepts, practicing questions, and reviewing areas that need further attention.
I am currently a PhD researcher at WEHI and have extensive experience in biology, molecular biology, genetics, NGS, and bioinformatics. My research background has given me a strong understanding of scientific concepts as well as experience explaining complex topics in a clear and accessible way.
My lessons are suitable for high school students of different ages and ability levels, particularly students studying Biology, Chemistry, or Math. I am happy to support students who want to strengthen their fundamentals, prepare for assessments and exams, or simply become more confident in their subject.
